Why NCC approval matters when buying a caravan or lodge

Every holiday home at Skiddaw View is sold with a National Caravan Council (NCC) approved Purchase & Licence Agreement. This section explains what that means, why licences have set terms, and how they protect your ownership rights.

What is the NCC and why choose an NCC-approved park?

The National Caravan Council (NCC) is the UK trade body for the caravan, motorhome, holiday park and residential park home industries. Established in 1939, the NCC promotes high standards and consumer protection across the sector - from manufacturers through to holiday parks. As an NCC-approved park, Skiddaw View undergoes regular independent inspections and follows strict guidelines for quality, transparency and operational excellence. This means you can buy and own your holiday home here with complete confidence.

What is the NCC Purchase & Licence Agreement?

You'll receive a combined Purchase & Licence Agreement (NCC model). The Purchase Agreement covers buying your holiday home; the Licence Agreement sets out how long it can stay on the park and the conditions of use. Together they outline rights and obligations, pitch fees, park rules and resale conditions.

How long can I keep my holiday home?

Every holiday home is sold with a defined licence period. New holiday homes come with a full licence term; pre-owned holiday homes show the remaining term.

Why do holiday homes have a limited licence term?

Holiday homes depreciate and have a finite lifespan. A licence sets a clear period for how long the holiday home can remain on the park, protecting owners and helping maintain high standards.

What happens when my licence agreement ends?

You may upgrade to a new holiday home (with a new full licence), move the holiday home off-site to another park, or in some cases we may offer you a year-on-year extension (subject to the holiday homes condition and park circumstances). The only guarantee is the original licence term.
