We have been thrilled to be selected as the filming location for two TV shows over the years and have hosted film crews from both the BBC and ITV which were filmed (and aired) a year apart from each other. The ITV show was a reality style holiday show while the BBC show was an original comedy – both of which featured Johnny Vegas!

ITV Travel Guides

ITV Travel Guides was filmed here at Skiddaw View Holiday Park and around our local area in April 2015. The show was produced by Studio Lambert (producers of Gogglebox and Four in a Bed) the show sent five ordinary British households to review some of the worlds most popular tourist destinations: from an all-inclusive in Tenereffe, a five star hotel in Dubai to a holiday in the beautiful Lake District staying with us in some of then Holiday Caravans.

Narrator Johnny Vegas guided viewers through the location, while the households give reviews about everything on offer - from the accommodation to the food to the activities.

While staying with us, the families visited a number of Lake District attractions and activities which included: Windermere Lake Cruises, Keswick’s Pencil Museum, Honister, Keswick Canoe & Bushcraft, the Greyhound Inn at Bothel and Wordsworth House in Cockermouth.

Featured prominently throughout the show is our very own alpaca - Fidel!

BBC Home from Home

A year later (almost to the day!) a film crew returned to the Skiddaw View Holiday Park, this time to film a comedy pilot - Home From Home.

We were very pleased that we were selected as the location for the Home From Home pilot and the show featured an all-star cast, including: Johnny Vegas (Benidorm), Emilia Fox (Silent Witness), Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacey) and Adam James (Doctor Foster).

“Neil Hackett (Johnny Vegas) and his wife Fiona (Joanna Page) finally achieve their long-cherished dream of buying a lodge in the Lake District.
Their ‘traditional' lodge at Lake View Holiday Park means everything to them, the years of scrimping and saving all now feel worth it. That is until they wake up the next morning to discover their neighbours, the Dillons: Robert (Adam James) and Penny (Emilia Fox).
The Dillons are effortlessly superior in every way. Fiona enjoys the chance to make friends with her neighbours at a 'getting-to-know-you' barbecue, but Neil is less convinced. When night falls and the sangria flows the atmosphere goes from promising to catastrophic as Neil commits the ultimate faux pas.”

The show was picked up for a full series which aired on BBC One in 2018 however as we were unable to accommodate filming a different location was used.
