There are lots of attractions in and around the Lake District. We know you’ll go out and discover your favourites but to get you started we’ve listed a few favourites of our own. The Puzzling Place’s ‘World of Illusion’ takes the theme of Illusion and runs with it. It is home to our ‘Anti-gravity Room’, ‘Ames Room’, ‘Hologram Gallery’ and ‘Eyelusions Exhibition’. It’s a fascinating, fun and social excursion into the wonderful world of optical illusion, which will leave you quite literally, not believing your eyes!
Keswick Launch offers Lake District cruises around Derwentwater throughout the year. The launches start their journey from the Keswick boat landings and cruise around the lake stopping at seven lakeshore jetties where you may embark or join the various boats. Alternatively, stay on the boat and enjoy the 50 minute trip around Derwentwater.
The Lake District Coastal Aquarium prides itself being one of the best places to see some of the varied marine life of the Irish Sea. They have a huge variety of fish and invertebrates in 50 themed and informative displays with even the chance for some hands on contact with some of the hardy inhabitants
Trotters World of Animals is the only wildlife park in the North of Cumbria, Trotters is truly worth a visit. Located near Keswick it has over 100 species of animals from Anaconda to Zebra and many that are endangered such as Gibbons and Vultures.
The World of Beatrix Potter is the only Beatrix Potter themed attraction in Europe. Here you can visit Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck and many other characters as 23 of Beatrix Potters tails are brought to life in a magical indoor recreation of the Lake District countryside, complete with sights, sounds and even smells.
Find out how our real ales are brewed with care and attention, at Jennings Brewery by taking a guided tour of the brewery. You'll complete the tour in the best way possible, by sampling some of Jennings' superb Lakeland ales in the atmospheric Old Cooperage bar.
